“We are required to use EID tags for permanent identification associated with Bangs vaccination, administered by our vet. I always wondered about their use as a means of control and monitoring. However, about half of the EID tags fall out in the first year, so I'm not so worried. We use tattoos and permanent ID's. These are more reliable and less chance for bad actors to access and use the data for nefarious means.”
“EID tags are required in Canada. Recently, reading and recording EID tags have helped us have multiple layers of ID on each cow so we don't have any animals we lose records on because of a lost tag.”
